Unsay Messenger features.

Two things make Unsay different from a manual Facebook Messenger unsend. Stealth Mode flips the removal order so the recipient doesn't notice. Encrypted-chat deletion removes your messages for everyone across end-to-end encrypted and migrated threads, finding both halves of a split history. Both ship inside the free Chrome extension, with a Pass lifting the weekly limit.

Overview

What does Unsay actually do beyond bulk unsend?

Messenger only unsends one message at a time, and its native "Remove for everyone" won't sweep an encrypted history in bulk. Unsay loops that same action across the whole thread, at 5 to 7 seconds per message, on both messenger.com and facebook.com/messages. On top of the core loop, two features change how the cleanup looks and how far it reaches.

01

The base loop, free for everyone

Open a Messenger chat, scan it, count your own messages, pick a date range, click Unsend. Up to 50 messages per week on the free tier. Unsay triggers Messenger's own "Remove for everyone" action, so the message is gone from your side and theirs, permanently.

02

Stealth Mode, with a Pass

Reverses the removal order. Instead of starting from your most recent messages (the visible part of the chat), it starts from the oldest. The recent chat stays intact, and the cleanup happens far back in the scrollback where the other person is unlikely to look.

03

Encrypted chats, free and with a Pass

Messenger now defaults to end-to-end encryption, and migrated conversations get split into two threads: legacy and encrypted. Unsay finds both, merges the count, and removes across the whole history. The encryption itself is never broken, and Unsay never reads your messages.

The two features

Pick one to read in depth.

Each page covers what the feature does, the exact mechanism, why it matters, and the honest limits. Real numbers, no marketing fluff.

Stealth Mode

Don't get caught.

  • Removes from the oldest message first, not the most recent
  • The recent, visible part of the chat stays untouched
  • Randomized 5 to 7 second delay between each removal
  • Pass feature, unlocked with any Pass

Why oldest-first beats newest-first.

Encrypted chats

Both threads, for everyone.

  • Works on end-to-end encrypted conversations
  • Handles migrated dual threads (legacy plus encrypted)
  • Finds both, merges the count, removes across both
  • Encryption never broken, messages never read

The half of your history you can't scroll to.

Free vs Pass

What's free, what needs a Pass?

Both features are present in the free extension. Encrypted-chat handling is free (it's just how Unsay reads a conversation). Stealth Mode is gated behind a Pass, along with unlimited weekly removals. A Pass unlocks nothing else: there is no separate backup product on Messenger.

Why these two and not ten

Why does Unsay ship only these two features?

Most Messenger cleanup tools pile up gadgets: scheduled deletes, fake read receipts, contact exporters, seen-blockers. Unsay is the opposite. It does one thing, bulk unsend for everyone, and adds the two features that make the cleanup actually safe on Messenger's terms.

A

Stealth Mode answers a real fear

"If I bulk-remove, will they notice?" Messenger leaves a small "you removed a message" note where each bubble was, and it puts your most recent messages right where the other person looks first. Remove those first and the gaps are obvious. Stealth flips the order. You clear the ancient history first, the visible part stays intact, and the notes land deep in years of scrollback nobody re-reads.

B

Encrypted chats answer a real gap

"Why does scrolling only show half my history?" Because Messenger split your migrated conversation into a legacy thread and an encrypted thread. By hand, you only ever reach one. Unsay detects both, merges the count, and removes across the whole thing for everyone, without ever breaking the encryption or reading a single message.

Two features. Both honest. No fake countdowns, no manufactured scarcity, and no backup upsell (there is no backup on Messenger).

FAQ

Quick questions about the features.

Do I need a Pass to use Stealth Mode?

Yes. Stealth Mode is a Pass-only feature. The free tier removes from your most recent message backwards (the default order). Stealth flips that order so the cleanup starts from the oldest, leaving the visible recent part of the chat intact. Full Stealth Mode page.

Is encrypted-chat deletion free?

Yes. Handling encrypted and migrated threads is just how Unsay reads a Messenger conversation, so it's part of the free tier. Unsay finds both the legacy and the encrypted thread, merges the count, and removes for everyone across both. A Pass only lifts the 50-a-week limit and adds Stealth Mode. Full Encrypted chats page.

Does Unsay for Messenger include a backup?

No. The Messenger extension does not save conversations to a file. It focuses on removing your messages for everyone, cleanly and permanently. If you want a full-conversation ZIP backup before erasing, that feature lives on the separate Unsay for Instagram extension.

Does "unsend" remove the message for the other person too?

Yes. Unsay uses Messenger's Remove for everyone action, the same one you get when you long-press a message and choose Remove for everyone. The message is gone from your side and theirs, permanently. A small "you removed a message" note is left where the bubble was.

Where can I read the step-by-step guides?

In the Messenger guides hub. Start with how to unsend a message on Messenger for the mechanics, or delete Messenger messages for everyone, even encrypted if your conversation was migrated.

Does the free version really cost nothing?

Yes. You can unsend 50 of your own messages every week, forever, on both encrypted and legacy threads, on messenger.com and facebook.com/messages. A Pass only lifts the weekly limit and adds Stealth Mode.
